At the central library in Helsinki you can rent recording studios, rehearsal rooms and borrow instruments, all with a library card and all for free. Whilst living in the city for three months in 2023 I managed three morning sessions with an acoustic guitar and piano in one of the rehearsal rooms, recording quickly onto a laptop via a Zoom H4N mic - these are the results.

Also, visit Helsinki! It's a beautiful city (with a wonderful library).

All music recorded by Matt Ashton at Helsinki Central Library Oodi,
on 31/08, 5/10 and 12/10 2023 (three sessions, five and a half hours). Played on a borrowed Martin acoustic guitar, Yamaha piano and five string kantele. Field recordings made around the city of Helsinki between August and October 2023.

Thank you to all the studio staff at Oodi for their help. Thanks also to Vesa, Tiia and Pekka for assistance with title translations.
